Have you ever wondered what the extra eyelet is on a pair of athletic shoes? I'm here to let you in on the secret and show you how to use it!
The extra eyelet is to help lock in your heel to reduce friction and movement of your foot in the shoe. It gives an extra bit of support and helps reduce the chance of blisters.
If you find there is a bit too much movement in your shoe, try this method of locking in your heel with the lace lock. Make sure you tighten the shoe from the toebox first so that you have enough lace to achieve the lock.
I'm demonstrating this method on the new Saucony Peregrine 11 trail shoes. You will find most athletic and running shoes will have this extra eyelet for this purpose.
